RE: Locally raised, grass-fed beef and more…George’s Butcher Shop

To: All TLC! Parents and Staff

As most of you know, here at The Learning Center! we place a high priority on nutrition. It has been one of our long-standing goals for our nutrition program to find a local source of grain-fed, antibiotic-free meat. George’s Butcher Shop, owned and operated by parents of the school George and Carolyn Michelson, have graciously worked with us to make this goal achievable. They purchase this quality beef from Steve Whitmire’s Ridgefield Farm in Brasstown.

We are not only using this wonderful source of local beef in our Dining Commons but will have it available for you to order and pick up here at the school starting in December 2008.  All of us feel that to make healthy changes in the way families eat, that high quality foods must be easily available. We do not want to discourage you from visiting George’s Butcher Shop in the Brother’s Plaza but we do think the convenience of picking it up here at the school could make your shopping easier.

Follow the procedures on the attached order form in a timely manner. We will have this posted on our website also. The best process is to call your order in and pay by card. If that is not possible, we will have an envelope in the front office of the school for cash or check order. IN ORDER TO MAKE THIS EASY FOR ALL WE ASK THAT YOU PROMPTLY PICK YOUR ORDER UP FROM THE SCHOOL DINING COMMONS ON THE 15TH OF EACH MONTH

BETWEEN 2:00-3:00.

We are excited about the selection of quality meats and other items that we will be available right at our fingertips. Please take time to get your first order ready. Let’s support good nutrition! Let’s support local foods!
