            to the 2006-07 North Carolina School Report Card for The Learning Center!   Here you will find a variety of information about our school in one place.  Included in this report is information about school safety, instructional and technology resources, teacher quality, class size, student attendance, school and student performance on the North Carolina End-of-Grade tests, and how our school measured against Adequate Yearly Progress targets as mandated by the federal No Child Left Behind Act.  Report cards for all North Carolina public schools are available for view at www.ncreportcards.org, or you may go to www.ncpublicschools.org and click on the report card link on the left side of the page.   

We are very proud of the academic achievements of our students and their teachers.   According to North Carolina’s school accountability program, the ABCs of Public Education, our school met High Growth.   We were designated as a North Carolina School of Distinction based upon our performance composite score, 83.8%, which indicates the percentage of students deemed proficient in writing, math and reading.  We also met all seven of our Adequate Yearly Progress target goals. 

Our school, however, has much more of which we are proud.  We firmly believe that every child can and will learn.  We use an out-of-the-box, multi-learning style approach to educating our students to ensure that this happens.  Our students participate in garden/nutrition-based learning, our Child Nutrition program is one of the finest in the state and we were State Champions in the President’s Challenge Physical Activity and Fitness Awards Program.  Students also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of enrichment programs offered by few other schools in the state.  Our parent and community volunteer force is second to none.  We truly are a community of learners!
