Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year! We have an exciting year ahead of us. We have many learning activities planned for the school year, and I look forward to working with your child in the months ahead. Throughout the first few weeks of school, you will notice papers coming home with your child that may need returned. Please take time out of your busy schedules and make sure all paperwork is read and returned, if necessary. Thank you!

PLANNERS
Planners will be used in our classroom on a daily basis. The children will write their homework in their planners everyday. Also, if I need to send home a personal note, it will be written in your child's planner. PLEASE check your child's planner on a daily basis. I am a communicator. It's important that you know what's going on in your child's classroom, and I will do my very best to keep you informed. Within the planner is your child's Student Planner where all homework and personal notes, behavior concerns, etc. will be written. Also, you will notice two folders. The red folder is where your child will store his/her homework assignments. The blue folder is for anything you need to return to school such as permission slips, forms for the office, lunch/snack money (in labeled envelope), etc.

SNACK
We will have a snack break every day. Your child may either bring a snack from home or keep a snack account at school. You may send in any amount of money for this account. When your child's snack account begins to get low, you will receive a notice in his/her planner. When you send in ANY money, please be sure to put it in a labeled envelope with your child's name on it, as well as, what the money is for.

BELLS
The first bell in the morning rings at 7:55. The second bell rings at 8:00. Your child is TARDY if they arrive past 8:00. Please make sure that your child obtains a "Tardy Slip" from the office before entering the classroom, if they arrive past 8:00.
After three (3) tardies, your child will be required to make up time after school.

ABSENCES:  MAKE UP WORK
If your child is absent, he/she will have 3 days to make up any missed work. After 3 days, work will not be accepted. All of the work your child must make up will be kept in his/her mailbox. (School Wide Policy)

ABSENCES
Students who receive in excess of twelve (12) "excused" absences will be required to make up time during an after school session. Students who have "unexcused" absences will be required to make up the time missed during an after-school session. All unexcused absences are to be made up as the nine weeks period ends.             (School Wide Policy)

HOMEWORK
If you receive a notice in your child's planner that he/she did not return their homework, they will have ONE day (the next school day) to get this work turned in with a grade of NO higher than a 70. After one day, homework will not be accepted, and they will be given a grade of zero. (School Wide Policy)
