Physical Education has always been a core part of our curriculum at TLC! Through faithful encouragement from instructors and our well-balanced Physical Education program, students have earned the Presidential Fitness State Champion Award for highest percentage of students passing the Presidential Fitness Test, and TLC! has earned the title A+ Fit School!
We offer PE five days a week, and bring lessons about exercise and the importance of being active into the classroom as well. Healthy Living strategies are taught in Science as well as during PE class. We want our students to leave TLC! with a solid foundation in what they can do to maintain physical health.
WAYS WE GET ACTIVE!
Under the watchful eye of Ms. Shelley, TLC! students practice archery starting in elementary school. This unique skill
teaches our students focus and concentration, as well as physical fitness and agility.
Rythym & Dance
We teach that dance is a great practice for improving memory and concentration, sharpening motor skills, and getting a whole-body workout. Students learn various genres and create their own routines to perform for the class.
Our basketball unit culminates in a carnival, where elementary students play a variety of active basketball games led by our Middle Schoolers. The whole school gathers at to watch the Parents/Teachers vs Students basketball game.
Playing in the Woods
The Outdoor Learning Center provides a sublime spot to participate in all the activities the outdoors provides. Students hike our trails weekly and are taught active outdoor skills from forest management to shelter building, as well as the responsible behavior to enjoy nature sustainably.
Since we are (sadly) muggles, we must play a non-flying version of the fantastic game from the Harry Potter novels. We still get a great workout and some students even make their own brooms!
Every year we celebrate the coming summer with a schoolwide Field Day event. Water play games are created and managed by our Middle School students for our Elementary students. The chance to just play and have fun together is a great way to promote positive and fun physical activity.
