4th Grade Garden Based Learning and Spinach Salad Eating!

In Garden Based Learning, fourth grade students enjoy reaping the early garden harvest. Students have worked for weeks, weeding, planting, and caring for their outdoor garden. Students have weeded the entire garden and harvested three huge grocery bags of homegrown spinach.

Just yesterday fourth graders made a huge spinach salad. They also harvested edible pansies on campus to add to the salad.

Since first graders also worked in the garden over the past months, they too enjoyed a spinach salad. The students also got to learn about how certain flowers are edible. Many students were eager to try the spinach salad with dried cranberries, pecans, raisins and homemade viniagrette dressing. Several students ate all of their salad, with a few requests for seconds!
