Recently, students in Ms. Gina’s fifth grade class have been learning about the different ecosystems in science. The students were given requirements for what to include in a project demonstrating their understanding of an ecosystem of their choice. Ms. Gina encouraged students to get creative and use the arts to help with their projects. They chose a range of methods including a puppet show, posters, tri-fold boards, dioramas, PowerPoint presentations, and booklets. One student even created figures out of clay and pipe cleaners. Some students chose to work with a partner while others wanted to work alone. The project also included students doing research, writing, and using their listening and speaking skills.
