On Thursday, February 27th TLC! second, fourth, sixth, and sevents graders had a special visit from a recently graduated Physician’s Assistant, Jason Willis.  Willis, a former engineer, just completed the PA program at Emory University in Atlanta.  He got his engineering degree years previous from NC State University in Raleigh.  He has worked on engineering projects for NASA space shuttles and Army equipment.  He became interested in medicine when he took some EMT classes on the side, while working in Charlotte.  After working in this field he realized how much he wanted to do a more hands on job helping sick people, which led him to Emory.  He will soon begin working in Urgent Care in McDowell County, NC.  His advice to students interested in careers such as these was to never give up being curious.  Keep exploring!  He said his interest in further education came from being raised in a long generation of teachers who encouraged life-long learning.  We were very thankful Mr. Willis took time out to talk to our students.
