Fourth Grade Visits Cherokee County Historical Museum

The fourth grade class recently took their studies out into the field as they visited the Cherokee County Historical Museum.  They learned much about growing up on a farm in this area and the homemade tools early settlers used for everything from quilting, making butter, growing food, and building.  They saw Cherokee artifacts, an old schoolhouse replica, antique guns, soldier uniforms, and LOTS of dolls.  They learned some legends (about how fairy crosses came to be) and some old sayings such as “don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater” because everyone got to bathe in the tub before the baby.
