Girls on the Run and Girls on Track is a curriculum-based, life-enhancing, character-development program serving girls in the 3rd through 8th grades. Girls on the Run combines training for a 5K (3.1 mile) running event with healthy living education. The program seeks to instill self-esteem through health education, life skills development, mentoring relationships, and physical training – all of which are accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff and the community.
On Saturday, December 8, 2012 girls participating in TLC’s Girls on the Run and Girls on Track programs traveled to Asheville, NC to run the 5K. This race was an empowering and uplifting culmination to a wonderful semester and fun was had by all!
