The Learning Center! Charter School has partnered with “Girls on the Run” for a third season this year.  Girls on the Run is a national nonprofit organization focused on girls from 3rd – 8th grade to inspire, empower and build confidence in order to unlock their full potential.  The program is a curriculum-based, character-development program at the school that offers physical fitness through running and track. The program, offered to 14 counties in North Carolina, combines training for a 5K running event with healthy living education.

“Girls on the Run is perfect fit for the school because of our strong emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education,” said Cheryl Catuto, teacher and program liaison for the school. “STEM education incorporates all content areas with creative exploration, teamwork, confidence and determination for success–even after failure.”

Catuto went on to say, “by providing a strong foundation through Girls on the Run for our young ladies, we hope to unlock their potential and encourage all of our students to pursue their dreams.”
