Honoring 9/11 with 2nd Annual TLC Day of Service

On September 11, 2012 TLC students and staff fanned out across our community to “pay it forward” with service work as a means to honor the victims of the terror attacks from that fateful day eleven years ago.

Groups of students were dispatched across our community.  Some were sent by land and boat to clean up the water ways and shores in a precursor event to Cherokee County’s Big Sweep.

While others were sent to local Salamander Cove Farm and CSA to harvest produce to be shared with the local food bank.

Some groups worked on campus finishing projects in need of completion.

Others traveled to the John C. Campbell Folk School to lend a hand on large scale gardening projects.

And the fourth and fifth grade classes walked across the community picking up trash and debris.

This day not only honored those who gave all on September 11th, but helped develop the character of our students and instill an appreciation for community service.

Thank you one and all.
