The Jackie Ward Foundation is a non-profit 501(c) (3) foundation that seeks to enrich and enhance education to local students by introducing the life-changing power of the Arts, while also promoting business, entrepreneurship, science, technology, engineering and math education.

The music camp was founded and is directed by accomplished pianist, Latavius Mulzac. Mulzac is a musician and music producer out of Nashville, Tennessee and has toured with BB King All Star Band, Lady Antebellum, Silk and more.

“My ‘Music Takes You Places’ program is designed to cultivate self discipline and awareness, emotional intelligence, and creativity in each student.  The goal is to guide each participant to a place musically that acts as a path to success in society,” said Mulzac.

The campers spent the week learning numerous songs in preparation for their showcase performance that was held Sunday, June 30th at the Texana Community Center.

Mulzac said that in addition to the music lessons, he had campers focused on setting and achieving goals each day.  Plus, each day during the lunch session, campers were entertained by notable musicians including Daniela Soledade, a Brazilian singer from Rio de Janeiro, master guitarist Nate Najara, and former North Carolina Poet Laureate, Shelby Stephenson.
