Recently sixth graders have been learning about winter root vegetables along with their winter gardening activities. They harvested turnips for Ms. Debby to create a dish from. The students were very fascinated with the ability of the turnip to offer both greens, and a starchy root vegetable for food. Several students wanted to (and did) take home some greens and turnips to cook for themselves! Along with turnips, there is Swiss chard, lettuce, spinach, collards, and kale growing in the TLC! garden.
