The Learning Center! Charter School is now working toward its 6th year of rich history in celebrating the
arts and enriching academic offerings. Needless to say, last year's Academics and Arts celebration will be a
hard act to follow. However, we are already in the process of doing just that. We can already boast that

working with the John C.Campbell Folk School has made possible a return presentation of the . local basket artists from Brasstown, have provided an introductory demonstration for our 3rd and 4th grades.

American basket weaver from Cherokee, of . We appreciate the help of
in bringing a Cherokee artist to our campus. In May, through the support of Cherokee
County Arts Council, basket artist Michael Davis, Jo Kilmer, offering workshops in Natural Tree Forms, and
, Asheville artist working with recycled materials,
will work with students on The Learning Center! campus. Carrie Dyer, TLC Charter School Art Program, is
presently working to bring several other local basket artists to our campus to offer basket demonstrations to our youngest students. Additionally,
the musical arts will be represented this spring, through guest performance of an area hand bell group,
Valley River Ringers and TLC's annual
Spring Concert. The GrowZone Players will come back to the stage for a second time this spring with the production of LAW & ORDER: C-rhyme and Pun-ishment,
a musical under the direction of Ryan Bender and Judy Coleman. Art contests will be held across
all grades. Poetry and Essay Contests will be held for 2nd -8th (see the Middle School Countywide
Poetry and Essay Contest and Winner Recognition Ceremony ) and guest writer Diana Smith.
